PhD Fellowship in Astrophysics in Barcelona Institute of Space Sciences (IEEC-CSIC)
Area of job
Type of job
In the following months, there will be an opening for a PhD fellowship position of 4 years. Our group is assigned one such position. The call is expected to appear in summer 2016 and the start date will usually be by the end of the year or early 2017. The successful candidate will pursue doctoral studies within the MAP (Multi-messenger Approach for Astro-Particle Physics) research group at the Institute of Space Sciences (IEEC-CSIC)

We are seeking an enthusiast and highly motivated candidate for this position. We offer to pursue observational research of highly energetic Galactic systems like pulsars and their nebulae, supernova remnants, and binaries. In particular, the candidate will use gamma-ray data from the Large Area Telescope onboard the Fermi satellite ( and complement this with other multi-frequency observations at lower energies as the PhD progresses, as well as with phenomenological studies. No previous experience in gamma-ray or X-ray data analysis is required, although it would be beneficial. We are looking for candidates with high marks in their astronomical or physics background, and willingness to learn.

Interested candidates should submit their CV (together with marks for each course in their studies) and the names of 2 persons who are familiar with their work and who could write a reference letter to Subject: FPI fellowship

Excellent candidates will be considered for additional fellowship positions that will open throughout the year.
