Applications are invited for a Software Engineer position at the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC) in Barcelona. The candidate will join a group with a large experience in developing control software for the operation and control of astronomical instrumentation and robotic telescopes. The successful candidate will work on the implementation of the control software for the Joan Oró Telescope and the Montsec Astronomical Observatory (oadm.ieec.cat), and for other ground-based telescopes and space missions.

Candidates with BSc or MSc degree in computer science will be considered. The candidate should have good background and experience in programming in Python, C/C++, PHP and Java programming languages. He/she should have experience in Linux environment and in all phases of software development life cycle: requirements, design, implementation, documentation and testing. Knowledge of AI technologies applied to scheduling and control problems (e.g., PDDL) and of basic positional
astronomy will be valued. Candidates should posses English language skills.

The position will be initially a 1-year appointment, but can be extended up to a total of 3 years depending on the availability of funds. A starting date in September 2019 is foreseen.
