DESCRIPTION:

The tasks to be conducted are part of EUMETSAT's "Radio Occultation Meteorology Satellite Application Facility (ROM SAF)", in which IEEC is partner of its "Continuous Development and Operations Phase 3 (CDOP-3)".
One of the duties of IEEC in the ROM SAF CDOP3 is to develop ionospheric products for the EUMETSAT Earth Polar System Second Generation (EPS-SG).
The radio occultation payload aboard the second generation of EUMETSAT EPS will increase the range of altitudes at which the occulting links are acquired, enabling ionospheric sounding.
The list of tasks to be conducted under this contract are:
  • to implement the baseline algorithms to invert high altitude GNSS radio occultation signals into vertical profiles of the electron density, and simple scintillation products. These algorithms shall be implemented with proper interfaces to the ROM SAF ROPP software package;
  • to test, report and document the implemented algorithms;
  • to contribute developing more advanced algorithms for ionospheric retrievals.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
  • Junior scientist
SELECTION CRITERIA:
  • Experience of 8 years or more in ionospheric modelling and processing with GNSS data.
  • Experience in ionospheric mapping function studies.
  • Experience in C++ and MATLAB programming
  • Excellent level of English
