Area of job
Type of job
The MAP (Multimessenger Approach for Astro-Particle Physics) research group at the Institute of Space Sciences / Institut de Ciencies de L’Espai (CSIC) & Institut d’ Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (IEEC), is offering a 2-year post-doctoral position in Barcelona.

Our research interests includes theory, phenomenology, and multi-band observations of compact objects and their environments. We are members of the Fermi-LAT, and MAGIC collaborations, and participate in the preparations for CTA and LOFT. Particular topics of interest for the group are isolated neutron stars in general (pulsars, magnetars, etc), supernova remnants, pulsar wind nebulae, gamma-ray binaries, X-ray binaries, and their jets. We run several long-term observational and theoretical projects on these topics to which the fellow can be associated, in addition of bringing his/her own ones to collaborate with us.

Candidates must be in possession of a PhD in Physics or Astronomy when applying. They can apply focusing their research plan on theory and/or observations, and should state if they wish to work within one of the international collaborations we pertain. Candidates are kindly asked to contact us sending a copy of their CV, publications list (where it is made clear the candidate’s own contribution in case of presenting papers published by large collaborations), a statement of research interests, and the names and contact details of at least two persons willing to write a reference letter upon request.

Screening of applications will start on 30/11/2012. Screening of candidates will continue until an appointment is made, starting dates are expected in the first semester of 2013.
