Description
The Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (IEEC) offers a research position to work in the development, production and validation of Simulated data for the Scientific Ground Segment of the Euclid mission, by the European Space Agency (ESA).The programmer/scientist will work with Santiago Serrano, Francisco Castander and other members from the group (E.Gaztañaga, P.Fosalba, M.Crocce) with close interactions with the Spanish Science Data Centre team, hosted at PIC.

We are seeking a candidate to work in OU-SIM, an organization unit dedicated to simulations within the Euclid Science Ground Segment. The eligible candidate will also have the possibility to develop research on different aspects of observational cosmology with a focus on large astronomical surveys in which the group is involved (DES, PAU, Euclid, MICE, CosmoHUB).

The position contract is currently available until the end of 2016, with a possible extension based on performance and depending on available funding.

The starting date is expected to be as soon as possible after the closure of the application deadline. The position will be held at the ICE, IEEC-CSIC, located at the UAB campus.

CompetencesExtensive experience with computer programming (python and/or C++) is essential. Candidate must be familiar with simulations of any kind. Experience with analysis of astronomical data, calibration and data reduction is recommended. Optionally, knowledge in Model-View-Controller (MVC) applications will be considered.
