The Institute of Space Sciences (ICE, CSIC) / Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (IEEC) have a buffer optical bench, with dimensions 1.5 x 2.5 m, placed in a dark room ready to perform experiments of high-precision optics. Different instruments and setups are available, including:
- The required equipment to perform optical experiments such as calibrating and characterizing CCD detectors, and determining the spectral response of devices in a wavelength interval covering from 300 nm to 1100 nm. This instrumentation permits the verification and calibration of optical filters.
- A Zygo interferometer, model Veryfire, with a pupil of 6 arcsec to determine the optical quality of lenses and mirrors.
- A Nikon autocollimator to test the alignment of optical designs.
